Am I suitable for invisalign braces (Pro) _ Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic Gangnam.

Its a difficult decision, you want to straighten your teeth but cant decide which way to go when weighing the pros and cons of braces vs Invisalign.

You should do your research, ask questions and - with the help of your orthodontist - make an informed decision. The type of orthodontic treatment that is suitable for you also depends on the type of orthodontic problem you need to have corrected -

Invisalign isnt always the best option for some patients which is why getting expert advice from your Orthodontist is essential at Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic.

Braces are traditionally made of metal and attached to the outside of the teeth, although there are now different options for braces including ceramic and lingual (behind the teeth) braces. Metal wires and rubber bands are attached to the brackets to manipulate your teeth to correct orthodontic problems. Invisalign treatment uses clear, plastic aligners. The aligners are customized for each patient by making a 3d scan of their mouth. Customized aligners are then made to move the teeth in small steps until the correct position is reached.

The Advantages of Invisalign

Here are some of the advantages of Invisalign:

Invisalign Looks Better

The biggest benefit of Invisalign is that the retainers are virtually invisible. Adult patients love that colleagues and clients cant see they are undergoing orthodontic treatment. Self-conscious teens do too.

With Invisalign you dont go through a period of people commenting on your new braces. You wont be worried about your smile in photos - all you will see in photos is the progress of your ever-improving smile.

You Can Take the Aligners Out to Eat

Patients often ask us do you have to wear Invisalign all the time? For best results Invisalign needs to be worn for 20 - 22 hours each day, which means you can take your aligners out when you are eating. This means you dont have to change what you eat or how you eat it. With braces people find some types of foods difficult or uncomfortable to eat.

Its Easier to Brush and Floss Your Teeth

As well as when eating and drinking, youll also remove your Invisalign retainers to brush your teeth. With nothing on your teeth to worry about, you can continue brushing and flossing as you did previously.

Fewer Consultations Required

With Invisalign, much of the orthodontists work happens before you wear your aligners. A 3D scan of your teeth is used for making all the customised retainers in a laboratory. You should change the multiple sets of retainers on your orthodontists directions. There is no need to visit the orthodontics for adjustments so visits are kept to a minimum to check on progress. Few visits to the orthodontist means less time off work.

Comfortable to Wear

You may be wondering are braces or invisalign more painful? Moving teeth around with Invisalign can be uncomfortable and painful, much like traditional braces. However, there are also fewer mouth and gum problems with Invisalign. Invisalign retainers are made of a special plastic and fitted to each patients mouth, so - unlike braces - there are typically no cuts on the inside cheeks or salt washes to deal with.

The Tooth Decay Process: How to Reverse It and Avoid a Cavity at Yonei Uline Dental Clinic Gangnam

How does a cavity develop?

When a tooth is exposed to acid frequently -- for example, if you eat or drink often, especially foods or drinks containing sugar and starches -- the repeated cycles of acid attacks cause the enamel to continue to lose minerals. A white spot may appear where minerals have been lost. This is a sign of early decay.

Tooth decay can be stopped or reversed at this point. Enamel can repair itself by using minerals from saliva, and fluoride from toothpaste or other sources. You need to get regular dental check up at Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic before get severe.

But if the tooth decay process continues, more minerals are lost. Over time, the enamel is weakened and destroyed, forming a cavity. A cavity is permanent damage that a dentist has to repair with a filling.

When to see a dentist at Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic

If tooth decay is in its early stages, you may not experience any symptoms. This is why regular visits to your dentist are important. Your dentist can help to identify and address the early stages of tooth decay before they worsen.

Make an appointment with your dentist if you experience tooth sensitivity, tooth pain, or swelling in or around your mouth. These may be signs of the later stages of tooth decay or another dental condition that needs attention.

The bottom line

Tooth decay is damage that affects your teeth due to the activities of bacteria present in dental plaque. These bacteria convert sugars from your food into acids, which can go on to damage teeth.

There are five stages of tooth decay. The earliest stage is often reversible, but later stages can cause permanent damage to an affected tooth.

The treatment for tooth decay depends on what stage it’s in. Some examples of potential treatments include fluoride treatments, fillings, and root canals.

There are steps that you can take to help prevent tooth decay. These include things like brushing your teeth at least twice a day, avoiding sweet foods, and making sure to visit your dentist regularly.

Getting Dental Laminate in Gangnam with reasonable price_Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic

What Is Dental Laminate?

When you’re not confident in your smile, it can do real damage to your self-esteem. Feeling a need to hide your teeth shouldn’t keep you from smiling, laughing, and interacting freely with the people around you. Advancements in cosmetic dentistry can transform your smile more quickly than you ever imagined. Dental laminate treatments can produce spectacular results in a relatively short time frame.

Dental laminate, also called porcelain veneer or porcelain laminate, is a thin leaf-shaped material made of dental ceramic and adhered to the front surfaces of the teeth. Porcelain laminates are generally 0.5-0.6 mm thick. This corresponds to approximately 2 times the thickness of an eggshell (much thinner laminate varieties are also available).

What Are They Used For?

The primary task of dental laminates is to improve the appearance of the teeth. They can be considered as a kind of surface coating.

Examples

   Porcelain laminates are widely used to adjust the color, shape and position of teeth. So with this application, teeth;

   Has changed color,

   Worn out,

   Form flawed,

   There are gaps between them,

   Slightly misaligned can be corrected.

Dental Laminate Application is Optional

Dental laminates are mostly applied at the request of the patient, not for the purposes of structurally strengthening the teeth or preventing the teeth from getting worse, but only to correct the appearance of the teeth.

What is Dental Laminate Application a Good Solution?

Although dental laminate is a thin piece of porcelain, it can withstand all the attrition. There are basically two reasons for this:

Although porcelain is a material that breaks easily in cases of falling or bending by its nature, these weaknesses disappear when firmly adhered to a solid structure. The forces applied to the porcelain are transferred to the strong and solid tooth underneath.

The hard and ceramic (glass-like) structures of dental laminates create a very durable surface. Dental laminates are resistant to all materials and abrasion they will be exposed to in the mouth.

What Advantages do Porcelain Laminated Offer?

Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic will inform three important reasons that make porcelain laminate application advantageous:

Dental laminates only cover the front surfaces of the teeth. Crowns, on the other hand, cover all the surfaces of the tooth on which they are placed. Therefore, much less abrasion is required than tooth enamel in dental laminate application compared to crown coating. The thickness of porcelain laminates is generally in the range of 0.5-0.6 cm. This is equal to the amount of abrasion that needs to be done only from the front surfaces of the teeth. In crown coating, 2 mm of abrasion is required from all surfaces of the teeth. Since the priority of dentists is to preserve the natural structure of the teeth as much as possible, dental laminates are the first choice as long as the patient’s condition is suitable.

Porcelain laminates reflect light similar to natural teeth. Therefore, a very natural appearance is obtained with dental laminate application. Laminates produced with composite filling material do not create a realistic image as much as porcelain laminates.

Due to their ceramic surface, dental laminates are resistant to staining. Laminates produced with composite filling material stain and change color over time.

Are you curious about orthodontic (braces) treatment procedure?_ Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic Seoul Gangnam.

Orthodontic treatment is a step by step system. While every orthodontic case is different to the next, the journey patients take is quite similar. Here Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic will walk you through the three phases of orthodontic treatment so you know what to expect at each stage.

Phase 1 - Pre-Braces

There is some preparation you and your orthodontist will have to do before you’re ready for braces.

First Consultation

At your first consultation, we’ll review the position of all your teeth and decide what orthodontic options are available to you. We’ll also check on the health of your teeth and gums.

X-Rays

Next, we’ll send you for x-rays which are an important clinical evaluation tool for orthodontists. Orthodontic x-rays allow us to view the roots of your teeth and jawbones and check for any underlying oral health problems. If there is a sign of gum disease, we need to treat it before braces are applied. If the x-ray reveals any trapped teeth in the jaw or jaw joint problems, you may need a more complex 3-D x-ray, such as a cone beam scan.

Second Consultation

During this visit we’ll take diagnosis photos (before photos) and intra-oral scans of your teeth. Information gained from your consultations and x-rays are used to prepare a detailed treatment plan.

Presentation of Your Treatment Plan

Once the plan is ready we ask you (and your family members) to return to the clinic to discuss the plan. Your treatment plan includes all your options and then it’s up to you/your parents to decide on proceeding with the treatment. The types of treatment include ceramic, metal, standard, or lingual braces on both arches or just one and an option of clear aligners when indicated. Depending on the case, some patients have a few options to choose from, while other patients are only suitable for metal braces. During the appointment, we’ll explain the journey through the different stages of treatment and answer all your questions.

Visit Your Dentist

Not everyone undertaking orthodontic treatment has overcrowding issues. But for those patients who need teeth extracted, they will make an appointment with their regular dentist for the extractions. Patients need to wait at least two weeks after the extractions before they can have their braces applied.

All patients should visit their dentist in the lead up to their braces being applied for a scale and clean.

Am I candidate for same day dental implant? _ Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic Gangnam Seoul

Understandably, patients who lose one or more teeth will want to replace them as quickly and as easily as possible. Dental implants often provide a suitable solution. An increasing number of dentists offer same-day dental implants using advanced techniques to place and, almost immediately, load the implants. This procedure relies on the implants being placed in such a way that they cannot move throughout the healing process. Although the implants are loaded with new restorations soon after surgery, they must still integrate with the bone; even the slightest movement could interfere with this process.

With same-day, implant-supported bridges, the implants are effectively locked in place by the bridge, ensuring no movement whatsoever. When this technique is used to restore a single tooth, the implant-supported crown is fabricated in such a way so it cannot come into contact with the opposing dentition.

While this treatment may sound ideal, this treatment isn’t without its drawback. But first, let’s look at the advantages.

Pros of Same-Day Dental Implants

When successful, this treatment provides a high level of patient satisfaction because they can receive their implant surgery and their new teeth all on the same day. With same-day dental implants, patients will not need to wear an uncomfortable partial or full denture while their implants heal. Treatment is highly appealing for people who dread being without their teeth for any length of time. Patients can eat and talk in relative comfort during the healing process, with minimal disruption to everyday life. The techniques used for same-day dental implants are tested thoroughly and do not compromise the long-term success of treatment.

Cons of Same-Day Dental Implants

Same-day dental implant treatments cannot create a shortcut that will bypass the bone-to-implant integration process. This must still take place and cannot be rushed because the body needs time to produce new bone cells that will firmly hold the implant in place. Patient compliance is vital to ensure the dental implants do not move during a healing period, which may be anywhere between 3 and 6 months. During this time, it is often necessary for patients to stick to a softer diet, avoiding particularly hard or crunchy foods, such as carrots or almonds. This can last 6 to 8 weeks after surgery. Failure to adhere to a softer diet may result in the implants moving, negatively impacting integration and increasing the risk of treatment failure.

Often the restorative dental implants that are attached immediately after surgery are simply temporary, remaining in place until integration is completed, after which they can be replaced with more permanent implant-supported restorations. These immediate restorations are usually fabricated before surgery takes place and may not look as highly aesthetic as the final restorations.

Please be reminded that should you wish to discuss a case in more detail, Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic team is here to assist you.

Gum Contouring Surgery at Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic Gangnam Seoul

If your gums rest too low or too high on your teeth and you are unhappy with your smile, you may be a candidate for gum contouring surgery. Also known as gum reshaping or tissue sculpting, this cosmetic dental procedure can even out an uneven gum line and give you a smile you can be proud of. While this is more often a cosmetic surgery, it is also done to fight periodontal disease. Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic take a look at what gum contouring is and whether it might be right for you.

Is it a necessary surgery?

Gum contouring alone is considered a cosmetic procedure. Most of the time it is not medically necessary. Most people have their gums reshaped to improve the appearance of their smile. However, some people undergo this surgery as part of other necessary periodontal procedures, such as crown lengthening, pocket reduction, and regenerative procedures. Receding gums leave the teeth exposed and vulnerable, while the occurrence of pockets between the teeth provide an ideal location for bacteria to accumulate. Periodontal gum reshaping removes these and seals the tissue to prevent future problems. Gum reshaping procedures not considered cosmetic also include adding gum tissue when recession has occurred and trimming overgrown tissue that has covered part of the tooth crown.

How is the surgery done?

Gum reshaping is performed in the Yonsei Uline Dental Clinic. Currently, dentists use scalpels, lasers, and radiosurgery to perform the gum contouring procedure. The laser is used to re-contour and then seal the tissue to create the ideal shape and prevent ongoing bleeding. The dentist can also use the laser to eradicate hollows that trap bacteria to prevent future infections. Ask your dentist which technique is the most suitable for your situation.

Before surgery, your provider should go over what he or she will be doing during the procedure. Often, dentists will use a pen and draw a line to mark the new gum line. That way, you can see exactly how much gum will be removed or how the gum line will be reshaped.  A local anesthetic may be applied to numb the area. Sometimes, bone at the front of the tooth’s root must also be removed during gum contouring to achieve the best long-term results.
